Speculation of counter bids for AWB from other grain traders appears to have floundered, though an industry source said a US hedge fund was rumoured to be interested in the former monopoly wheat exporter. The heads of both GrainCorp and AWB have announced the businesses will ''merge'' in a deal which valued AWB at slightly more than $800 mil- lion. The Weekly Times a NEW LO OKfor an OLD MATE !
