Aaron Hemley from Callawadda in western Victoria, clipped sheep for two days and two nights in Stawell last week, breaking the world endurance shearing record by 24 hours. Mr Hemley, 35, shore 904 sheep on just 45 minutes of sleep, watched by a crowd of 800, and raised more than $100,000 for the Stawell Hospital On- cology unit. He lost 5kg in weight, but said the worst part was the effect of exhaustion on his mind. ''I kept seeing pools of blood,'' Mr Hemley said. ''I kept thinking is that blood? Did I cut him? ''No, it was my mind playing tricks on me. ''Those last two hours were hard.'' The Weekly Times
