But they will have to drive to one of five capital cities to fill up. From late this month, Commodore Series II utes and sedans, powered by the 3-litre V6 or 6-litre V8 engines, will be able to run on either petrol or a blend of up to 85 per cent ethanol and 15 per cent petrol. E85 will be available under the name Bio E-Flex at 31 Caltex service stations in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Bris- bane and Adelaide by the end of October, increasing to 100 sites. An engine running on E85 is 2 per cent cleaner at the exhaust pipe than petrol, produces more torque and is about 27 per cent cheaper to run, but uses about 25 per cent more fuel.
