The benchmark EMI has increased by over 10% for the week thus far with more expected Thursday at the time of writing this report. Some might remember back to the early 2000s when lamb prices were hovering around $30/40 per head and all of a sudden they moved to $70/90 a few years ago. Perhaps wool is having the long over- due adjustment and the next decade will be one of higher highs and higher lows. The Tasmanian Feb Wool Sale is fast approaching and the cut-off date for receivals to Roberts Evandale is Wednesday, February 2. If you have selected stand-up show bales these will need to be in store one week earlier and clearly marked as such. Roberts urges producers selling wool this week and all other Tasmanian growers to join us in Melbourne for the sale. The intention is to fly over on the Monday morning, visit AWTA for a tour of the laboratory and also visit Victorian Wool Processors who operate a scour and carbonising line in Melbourne. On Monday afternoon, we will inspect the wool to be offered on the Tuesday at the Roberts Show Floor in Melbourne. Return is on Tuesday evening. We can arrange travel and accommo- dation on your behalf. Please contact Evandale on 03 63918633.
