Friday, April 8, 2011 Tasmanian Country 21 Shangri La Herefords Herefords and Poll Herefords Shangri La Eisenhower Supreme Interbreed Exhibit Launceston Royal Show Junior Interbreed bull Royal Hobart Show To be shown at Wodonga Whiteface National show and sale May 2011 Sale May 4th 2011 Helmsman Sale 11 am CIRCULAR ROAD, EAST RIDGLEY Contact: Gary Clarke 6435 7686 Crighton Horton 0408 834 652 Inspections Welcome 2023229-110408 Stunning show season Eisenhower was Supreme Interbreed exhibit at the Launceston Royal Show' SHANGRI La Stud has entered animals in the Burnie, Launceston, Hobart, Devonport, Stan- ley and Wynyard shows with constistently excel- lent results. ''Young bull Shangri La Eisenhower was Supreme Interbreed exhibit at the Launceston Royal Show,'' said Gary and Pat Clarke. Eisenhower was also a member of the victorious junior interbreed pair and interbreed sires progeny teams at Launceston and Burnie. He was also named Junior Interbreed Bull at the Royal Hobart Show. Shangri La has also been delighted with the per- formance of their heifers over the show season --- with three heifers winning a junior interbreed title at the Launceston, Hobart and Stanley shows. Gary and Pat Clarke believe this highlights the evenness of the maternal matrons in the Shangri La cow herd and is a testament to the good breeding practices of Shangri La. Shangri La believes this has been their most con- sistent show season so far. ''It is a testimony to our focus on commercial traits such as weight for age and structural correctness.'' Shangri La bull buyers have reported good growth and structure in their calves. On May 4 Shangri La will hold its third on prop- erty bull sale where two potential stud sires and nine commercial bulls will be offered, ready for work. Shangri La also sells bulls by private sale (pad- dock and show) and will exhibit bulls at the Wodon- ga Whiteface National Show & Sale on May 11-12. Designed to impress SUPREME: Young bull Nova Quasar. we can bring the very best genetics from around the world to our clients' NOVA Poll Herefords are proud of the performance and profitability of their cattle, and what their bulls are achieving for their cli- ents. ''Our bulls are selling throughout the state, and to King Island and New South Wales,'' said Cam Clements. ''Very good reports have come back about these bulls' progeny and the dol- lars these calves are mak- ing, with 10-month old calves from Angus Calves topping at $880.'' In the show ring last season Nova Poll Here- fords were the most suc- cessful Poll Hereford exhibitors at every show entered. The highlight of the year was at Devonport Show where the young bull Nova Quasar --- who at 13 months weighed 700kg --- was supreme beef exhibit, and was described by as- tute judge Rohan Hadley as the best bull he had seen in 25 years. Nova Quasar is now be- ing set for the 50th Dubbo National Show & Sale on June 6-7, and already main- land studs and agents have visited to have a look at him. Interest has been shown from as far as South Australia and Queensland. In addition, Nova Peru was senior inter-breed bull at every show entered in 2010. ''The backbone of our herd is our cows and the great cow families they come from,'' said Cam. ''These cows are con- stantly breeding on, and with a sire battery of more than 20 bulls we can bring the very best genetics from around the world to our clients.''
