TAS Country : September 22nd 2011
28 Tasmanian Country Friday, September 23, 2011 Special Feature Preparing for hay and silage season Kuhn has it all wrapped up NEWCOMER: Kuhn's VB 2160 KUHN'S involvement in balers and wrappers is growing and users are now beginning to see the ben- efits on their properties. Kuhn Australia recently introduced the VB 2160 and 2190 variable chamber round balers. The 2160 is a 4x5 baler and the 2190 produces 4x6 bales. Both models are fitted with a 2.3m wide pivoting pickup with an open-throat intake design. The large diameter heavy duty auger flighting on the outer sec- tions of the rotor provides a simple, short distance intake system that pro- duces even force feeding with higher forward speeds. VB balers provide high- performance bale through- put in diverse crop con- ditions. These machines have fewer moving parts for greater reliability. A well- designed pre-chamber en- sures fast and consistent bale starting. The VB2160/2190 also features an innovative Pro- gressive Bale Density Sys- tem that provides very firm, square-edged bales with variable cores. Com- pleted bales are secured with twine or a simple net wrap system which is lo- cated at the front of the machine. This allows more consistent net tension and complete cover- age across the bale width. Kuhn's full ranges of round and square bale wrappers offer technical fea- tures including pre-stretchers, film cutters, wrapping tables and low profile chassis designed to give machines the attributes to suit the full range of farmer and contractor markets. Five models currently fea- ture in the RW (round bale) wrapper range. The RW 1100 and RW 1300 are three-point moun- ted, whilst the RW 1400, RW 1600 and RW1800 are trailed models. All machines are self- loading, with the exception of the RW1100 which can be operated from the loader tractor. Top of the range round bale wrapper is the RW1800 twin satellite that can be operated behind the tractor or directly behind the baler. This model can be fitted with a 3D tech- nology wrapping system. For square bales, Kuhn has the SW1104 to SW4004 range. The VBP BalePack com- bines the technology from the two systems in one machine saving the oper- ator time and fuel.
