Exceptional Circum- stance declarations for the last remaining drought- declared areas --- Bundar- ra and Eurobodalla in NSW --- will expire as scheduled on April 30. Senator Ludwig ac- cepted the advice of the National Rural Advisory Council to end EC pay- ments being made to far- mers in those regions. Senator Ludwig said the end of the drought was a ''major milestone for agri- culture in Australia''. ''The extended period of drought, which made things tough for many on the land, is over,'' Senator Ludwig said. Farmers would soon see a new national framework introduced that focuses on risk management and pre- paredness, rather than cr- isis management.
