Woolies goes back to the basics FARMERS feature in the new pitch to customers from supermarket giant Woolworths. The move comes as the company aims to increase its share of the fresh food market from 28 per cent to 36 per cent under new director of supermarkets, Tjeerd Jegen, an import from UK chain Tesco. The supermarket chain has long been Australia's dominant grocer but has faced more competition from rival Coles. Woolworths has rebran- ded itself Australia's Fresh Food People, changing from The Fresh Food Peo- ple. It has also launched an advertising campaign featuring food travelling from a farm to the super- market. The chain wanted to highlight the company considered itself Aust- ralian.
