Refunds will be fast-tracked for people directly impacted by the fires and they will have additional time to lodge activity statements. The tax office has automatically deferred the lodgment and payment dates, excluding large pay-as-you-go withholders, for activity statements to April 29 for people in some postcodes. ''You do not need to apply for a deferral or a faster refund, it will happen automatically for people in postcodes affected by the disaster,'' Tax Commissioner Chris Jordan said. ''Check our website to see if your region is included.'' If farmers have other lodgment or payment obligations during this period and need additional time or assistance, call 13 2861. Trained Red Cross volunteers are providing emotional support to Tas- mania's bushfire affected communi- ties. Red Cross has developed a range of resources to help people understand what they may experience when re- covering from disasters.
